Using trays in a Montessori home or classroom to arrange the materials helps to organize the room and provide a sense of order while reducing overstimulation from a disorganized space.

Trays can be used for young children as young as 1 year old. However, trays are usually preferred in a Montessori classroom during the elementary year.
